JAMMU, April 27 (KNO) : Minister of State for Education, Culture and Tourism, Priya Sethi today initiated the trial run of prestigious Jammu Ropeway Project from Bahu to Mahamaya temple. Vice Chairman J&K Cable Car Corporation (JKCCC), Syed Bari Anderbai and Managing Director JKCCC, Shamim Ahmad Wani besides Engineers and officers of the concerned departments were present during the trial run.

Speaking after the successful trial run, the Minister said that the coalition government led by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Dy CM Dr Nirmal Singh has kept its commitment with the people of the state by initiating the trial run of this prestigious project. She added that under the guidance of Tourism Minister, Tassaduq Mufti and with sincere efforts of engineers of JKCCC, we were able to translate our words into actions and execute this project ably. She further said that the trial run will continue for more than a fortnight before dedicating the project to the people. Priya Sethi said that this Rs 70 Crore worth and 1.7 Kilometer long Jammu Rope way Project is going to be one of the biggest asset of Jammu for which people were waiting for many years.

“The project is of utmost importance and going to be biggest tourist attraction besides adding to aesthetics of Jammu City”, the Minister affirmed. She said that while keeping in view ecotourism, this cable car project will provide people high-quality tourism and will generate good employment. The Minister said that successful trial run of these two coaches will enable the engineers to add more coaches in days to come and conduct dry run before throwing open eight coaches on this line .

To ensure safety of passengers in the days to come, two coaches were put on trial run in the initial stage. Giving details of the physical achievements of project, MD JKCCC, Shamim Ahmad Wani and concerned engineers informed the Minister that work on casting of truss beam of Section-I Mahamaya station and 7 No. of Tower structures have been completed besides 12 coaches will start running on the first stretch in the middle of this year . The Minister directed the engineers to complete the work on approach roads immediately for easy access of tourists and further instructed them to complete works of restaurants and make them operational at the earliest. Pertinently, Priya Sethi is personally monitoring the Mega Project and has visited Peerkho - the first take off point, Mahamaya temple - second landing bay area and Bagh-e-Bahu - the third and final destination many times and issued directions to the officials of JKCCC to expedite work and ensure that the first trial between Bahu to Mahamaya temple is conducted well in time. For the project, huge chunk of land has been acquired for developing parking, restaurant, viewing decks, landscaping, ticketing and landscaping for the conveniences of tourists.

The Minister congratulated everyone associated with the prestigious project for successful trial run of the cable car. Large number of people from Bagh-e-Bahu area had gathered at the venue to witness first trial run of cable car. The jubilant crowd cheered when two cable cars were put on the trial run and expressed their happiness.
